A Pro-Choice Organization worth supporting

VOChoice.org.

Upon hearing about this story on Howard Stern, I had to say something. If you’re Pro-Choice in the abortion debate, this is an organization you want to support.

Here’s a little background. The guy who started this organization owned a building in his town that he rented to a Women’s Health Center. Once some pro-life (or non-choice) activists found out about it, they showed up at his 11 year old daughter’s school when she had a back to school night with banners with this guy’s picture on it, with his phone number, with the phrase “Please Stop the Child Killing!”

You’d think that was bad enough but it gets worse. He started receiving so many calls from these activists that his phone didn’t stop ringing. Some people would change their number at this point. Some would kick the Women’s Health Center out of the building they owned so they wouldn’t have to deal with the nonsense anymore. Not this guy.

He took down the phone numbers of the people who called him and handed them off to 20 of his friends. He had his friends politely call the harassers questioning why they’re using such tactics. They AREN’T telling these people they’re wrong for having a different opinion, just telling them that going about things the way they are is wrong. And I really respect that.

Of take a few minutes out of your day and head on over to their website to see how you can help out. Whether it be a simple donation (the pro-lifers have a huge head start and have far more in resources than the pro-choice folks.) or by sending an email or making a phone call yourself. Show the pro-lifers that take it too far that you won’t be intimidated by having a different opinion.
