Any unemployed conservative that even considers voting for Rick Santorum (http://spreadingsantorum.com/) is a fool and should have their ability to vote revoked. Here is yet another conservative douche bag who has probably never had to deal with economic adversity in his life commenting on poor folks should love. Yet him, and others like him in Congress, have gone out of their way to cripple the average person in this horrible economy to the point that the average person, who would normally be against the idea of taking government assistance, does it for the sake of feeding their family.

Since this is the idiot who thinks abortions are evil, you’d think he’d go out of his way to support programs that would actually feed kids. Yet since poor folks don’t support his campaign, I guess he figures they can go fuck themselves.

Hearing this asshole pontificate on being poor and how poor folks get all these luxuries, you’d think that everyone in the country would want to sign up for welfare since it’s so great. If you can get your food paid for and get free money, why not sign up for it?

Fact is, welfare doesn’t give you a small fortune when you sign up. You get just enough to care for the amount of folks you have to care for. On top of that, states also require that most folks do some sort of job training so that they can get work at some point that will pay them more than they conceivably get now. Welfare today does not in any way, shape, or form, represent the welfare that existed in the 70′s and 80′s. There are definite restrictions now that didn’t exist then. Also, you don’t stay on welfare for life. You have a definite time limit (unless you have pre-existing reasons) to use the services before you are kicked off for good. So if you don’t take advantage of the benefits you get to move on up from your current circumstances, then you’re a fool and deserve to be stuck where you’re at.

How someone can say this with a straight face and expect the average person to vote for them is mind boggling. Granted, the speaker in this case lives socially in the stone age who feels he can take his opinions and force others to live the way he feels.

The fact is, millions of people in this country out of no fault of their own, end up on public assistance. Once on welfare, they fight and claw their way out of the system so they can better themselves and not have to put themselves into that situation again. Telling people to let their kids starve and be homeless so they can build some “character” is sick and shows that Mr. Santorum has no idea what the meaning of the work character is. He needs to lose in the primaries so he can go back under the rock he slithered out of.
